Hebrews 7:22-25 KJV
By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.
And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death:
But this man , because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.
Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
Look at The Glory and in The Wisdom of Jesus Christ. Jesus is Holy. Jesus is full of Truth and Grace. Jesus is fully man and fully God. Jesus is the mediator and surety between God and man.
Why is Jesus all these things and so much more?
Jesus existed in order for God to enable Him to be a mediator and surety for fallen mankind, to take away our sinful fallen nature. Jesus stands in the gap on our behalf, between God and man.
Jesus executes the office of mediator and surety.
What does it mean for Jesus to be a mediator?
There is conflict between sinners and God. Man is separated from God because of man’s fallen, lost, and sinful nature. Jesus is the go between among the two, so to speak. He brings reconciliation and peace between God and His people, those who are saved by the precious Blood of Christ.
Not only is He the mediator, He is also the surety.
What’s a surety?
A surety is the one who takes a role of responsibility in the place of another who is liable.
In example, lets say you co-sign on a car loan for your son. Your son defaults on the car loan. Because you are a co-signer on the car note, the bank calls you for payment. Now due to default, the loan is delinquent. Your name is on the dotted line. You provided a surety to the bank as a co-signer for the car note. Now you will step in and pay the loan. Because you provided surety for the loan to the bank.
When you get saved and born again by The Holy Spirit of God, Jesus steps in and pays the debt that we owe as a result of our sin, iniquity, and transgressing God’s law. Jesus becomes our mediator and provides the surety for our salvation. Jesus Christ becomes our Saviour and Lord of our life when we get saved. We are then His ambassadors. Jesus becomes our advocate before The Throne of God, and through Christ we are allowed access to God. Because God loves His Son and has given ALL things unto His hand.
John 3:35-36 KJV
The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
John 3:3 KJV
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
John 3:14-21 KJV
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
No one except Christ Jesus could be the mediator and surety between sinners and God.
“For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Timothy 2:5).
Jesus is fully God and fully man, and is thoroughly qualified for those two offices.
Jesus Christ is full of Grace and Truth, He is our advocate before the Father. Being holy and undefiled, He is able to make the payment necessary, on our behalf, due to our sin.
Hebrews 7:25 KJV
Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
Thank you Jesus…Amen.
