IT SIMPLY MUST BE

It Simply Must Be

There are many, many churches in the world. But unless one thing characterizes a church it is in vain.

The church must be composed of people who allow Jesus Christ to be the supreme authority and people who follow His teaching.

A church that pleases God does not follow any human creed, discipline, manual, confession of faith, catechism, prayer book, council, conference, clergy, ancestors, human tradition, the majority, feelings, etc… as it’s authority.

All authority belongs to Christ (Matt. 28: 18); He is the head (Col. 1:13-20); and all things must be by His authority (Col. 3:17).

The revelation of His authority is in the Scriptures.

Matthew 28:18 NKJV

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

Colossians 1:13-20 NKJV

He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, [14] in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. [15] He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. [16] For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. [17] And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. [18] And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. [19] For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, [20] and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.

Colossians 3:17 NKJV

And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Contrary to what some have stated, the church is not a democracy but a monarchy.

Christ is The Only King. God speaks by and through Him (Heb. 1: 1-4) and He is the One we must hear (Matt. 17: 5-8).

Hebrews 1:1-4 NKJV

God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, [2] has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; [3] who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, [4] having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

Matthew 17:5-8 NKJV

While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!” [6] And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and were greatly afraid. [7] But Jesus came and touched them and said, “Arise, and do not be afraid.” [8] When they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only.

In all its ways a church must respect this necessity and authority of Jesus Christ. If not, it cannot and will not please God, and will only be rooted up (Matt. 15:7-20).

Matthew 15:7-20 NKJV

Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying: [8] ‘These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. [9] And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ ” [10] When He had called the multitude to Himself, He said to them, “Hear and understand: [11] Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.” [12] Then His disciples came and said to Him, “Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?” [13] But He answered and said, “Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted. [14] Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.” [15] Then Peter answered and said to Him, “Explain this parable to us.” [16] So Jesus said, “Are you also still without understanding? [17] Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated? [18] But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. [19] For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. [20] These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man.”

Nothing will ever change this truth. Absolutely nothing!
