Psalm 97:9-10 NKJV
For You, LORD, are most high above all the earth; You are exalted far above all gods. You who love the LORD, hate evil! He preserves the souls of His saints; He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked.
You have a very good reason to “hate evil,” think back about the havoc and trouble it has already brought to your life.
Sin has brought plenty of trouble, heartache, and sorrow into your life and soul. Sin has blinded you so much that you could not see the beauty of the Saviour Jesus Christ when he came to visit with you.
Sin has deafened your ears so much you could not even hear His tender call to your heart.
Sin has made you walk towards the way of death with sin and evil as a companion, and has caused poison to flow through your arteries, veins, and throughout your whole being.
Sin has poisoned, darkened, and tainted your vicious heart, and it’s “deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked.”
What an extreme creature you are when evil has its way within you. You are an heir of wrath even as others, you can’t wait to run and promote with all the other masses of evil and wicked ones to do evil.”
We were all this way before Salvation came by Jesus Christ through His Amazing Grace. Paul reminds us, if we will come and surrender to Christ Jesus then,
“We are washed, we are sanctified, we are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”
We have a very good reason, for sure, for hating evil when we look back and trace its deadly path and workings in our life.
This foolishness we allowed and entertained performed so much evil in us, that our souls would have been lost forever in the pits of hell, had not The Omnipotent Love of God came to us just in the nick of time, to redeem us from our sins.
Still, this evil and wickedness is an active enemy, always lurking, stalking, peeking, and watching from the shadows, to sneak up on you to do you harm again. It’s always hanging around to accuse you, tempt you, and to drag you back into the pit and into destruction.
Therefore, “hate the evil,” unless you want and desire some more serious trouble. If you want to walk through this path of life covered with briers, thorns, and sandspurs, then forget to “hate evil”.
However, if you want to live a happy life, and die a peaceful death, then walk in all the ways of Christ Jesus, hating evil, even until the end of your days.
If you truly love Jesus Christ as your Saviour and Lord, you will want to spend time with Him for all He has done for you, and you will want to honour Him, and “hate evil.”
The only cure that I know of for the love of evil in a Christians life, is in a true relationship and fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour.
Spend time with Him in prayer, worship, and study His Word, and it will be impossible for you to be at peace with sin and evil.
“Order my footsteps by Thy Word,
And make my heart sincere;
Let sin have no dominion, Lord,
But keep my conscience clear.”
