Romans 11:33-36 NASB
Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways! For who HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD, OR WHO BECAME HIS COUNSELOR? Or who HAS FIRST GIVEN TO HIM THAT IT MIGHT BE PAID BACK TO HIM AGAIN? For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.
There are so many things we will never completely understand. For example, free will versus election, or Gods sovereignty versus our own responsibility.
How about the age old question.
Why do bad things happen to good people?
Or, why did God allow the Holocaust?
We can spend hours, days, or weeks discussing, debating, and studying an infinite amount of topics, but some things we just don’t have the capacity to comprehend. We are too limited. Our brains are too small and in this life we will never fully discover the answers.
If we are not careful, these differences of opinion will lead to strife and bitterness among us. This is exactly what satan wants is to sow discord among the brethren.
Paul’s point is simply that God is amazing, and rather than trying to understand “why” we should stand in wonder at the “…depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God…His paths are beyond finding out.” We’re not going to figure out Gods ways, they are so much higher than ours. Instead, try appreciating what God has done for you. Take a moment and count your blessings, name them one by one, and it will supprise you what The LORD has done.
